{"id":7045,"date":"2013-12-23T08:47:17","date_gmt":"2013-12-23T13:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.warrensenders.com\/journal\/?p=7045"},"modified":"2013-12-10T13:31:52","modified_gmt":"2013-12-10T18:31:52","slug":"year-4-month-12-day-23-so-you-dont-forget-call-before-midnight-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.warrensenders.com\/journal\/year-4-month-12-day-23-so-you-dont-forget-call-before-midnight-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 4, Month 12, Day 23: So You Don&#8217;t Forget, Call Before Midnight Tonight!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Climatologist Katherine Hayhoe has noticed that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delawareonline.com\/article\/20131210\/NEWS08\/312100045\/Climate-change-expert-Public-perception-lags?nclick_check=1\">our media sux donkey dick<\/a>, according to the Delaware News-Journal.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>As the global science of human-caused climate change improves, the public\u2019s inadequate understanding \u201cis definitely a worry,\u201d a top national researcher said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think, for a long time, we\u2019ve been operating under the assumption that the facts are enough,\u201d said Katharine Hayhoe, a Texas Tech University atmospheric scientist retained by Delaware to prepare a climate change forecast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of scientific certainty, we\u2019re adding decimal points [to confidence], whereas in public opinion, we could be advancing by tens of percent\u201d through outreach and better communication, said Hayhoe, a lead author for the latest National Climate Assessment. \u201cI think that is what we have to be doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hayhoe made her remarks at an event hosted by the University of Delaware\u2019s College of Earth, Ocean and the Environment.<\/p>\n<p>A report guided heavily by Hayhoe\u2019s research concluded in June that Delaware\u2019s summers will grow steadily hotter on average in coming decades, with temperatures closer to those of the deep coastal southeast if emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases continue.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Time to spank some talking heads, I suppose.  December 10:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Industrial civilization\u2019s CO2 emissions are heating Earth&#8217;s atmosphere, making a far less hospitable planet for our descendants to inherit \u2014 but this news is apparently less important than the latest fleeting scandal, royal baby, or nubile starlet.  Our celebrity-fixated mass media has turned us into an ADD society, perpetually distracted and unable to focus on the genuine and very serious challenges our species faces in the coming decades.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s more to the story than that.
